Ligament Injury

Ligaments are ropey tissues connecting bone to bone. They work to stabilise joints and guide movements. Overload or trauma to ligaments can cause them to lengthen, become painful or tear, causing the joint to become unstable and weak.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

Painful movement
A feeling of weakness and untrustworthiness in the joint
Popping or clicking sounds (especially at the time of injury)
Reduced range of motion
Bruising
Swelling
Sometimes marked bruising becoming visible only after a delayed period

KNEE ligament injury
Intolerance of twisting on the knee or changing direction suddenly
A sudden pop and swelling
Feeling the knee is unstable
