Iliotibial Band Syndrome

The iliotibial band (ITB), a crucial soft tissue component that helps stabilise the entire leg and supports the hip and knee. Its tendon runs from the side of the hip all the way down to the tibia (lower leg bone), preventing the knee from deviating medially. The ITB is extremely difficult to stretch and prone to tightening and rubbing on the femur (thigh bone), which results in discomfort on the outside of the knee or hip.
